Full Heart's Response to COVID-19
Our world has changed a lot since March 2020 and public health has become a common discussion in our everyday lives, and is especially prevalent in wellness communities such as massage. At the time of this post, it’s been just over two years since COVID-19 hit the United States and we’re approaching 100,000 deaths nationally, with over 12,000 in Colorado alone. Whether we like it or not, the pandemic is still impacting us as individuals and our community as a whole. Luckily, thanks to our hard working medical professionals and scientists dedicated to public health, we know more about COVID-19, its transmission, and its prevention. We can use this research and information to protect ourselves and our loved ones and create communities that are more conscious of public health, and in turn more safe for us all.
How do we protect ourselves and our community?
Because COVID-19 is airborne (transmitted through inhalation and contact with mucus membranes),we can help prevent transmission by wearing masks in public places and while interacting with groups of people outside of our home. A meta-analysis, which is a research study done by analyzing several independent studies, on COVID-19 transmission and masks found that wearing masks, especially in health care fields, were shown to have a reduced risk of infection by nearly 70%.
Another effective measure to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 is getting vaccinated. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has collected resources and research detailing the effectiveness of getting vaccinated; they have concluded that being fully vaccinated (including the booster) significantly reduces the risk of transmission, symptoms, hospitalization, and death. While not everyone is able to get vaccinated (for example, those who are immunocompromised), it is important for everyone who is able to get vaccinated and do our part to provide more protection to those who are in higher risk communities (such as the elderly and those with other medical conditions).Overall, these studies show that the more people who are vaccinated, the less transmission we can expect to see within all of our communities.
Social distancing continues to be another way to prevent transmission of the virus. A study found that the more someone practices social distancing, the less likely they are to contract COVID-19. The elderly are even more protected against COVID-19 when social distancing is used alongside being vaccinated. Being outdoors in large numbers is still more safe than gathering indoors as well.
Everyone has a different safety and risk profile when it comes to COVID-19 safety practices. When we make choices about our own COVID-19 safety, we also affect the risk of the people around us. Help let everyone make an informed decision about their safety by being upfront about your risk behaviors and asking others about theirs!
Our Policies and Procedures for COVID-19
Being vaccinated, wearing masks, and social distancing helps us to play an active role in preventing illness, limiting debilitating long haul symptoms, and even saving lives. Here’s how Full Heart massage is ensuring your safety and combating the spread of COVID-19:
In order to receive any service with Full Heart Massage, everyone is either required to provide proof of vaccination or agree to wear a mask for the entire session, including while you are face down on the table. If you are unable to provide proof of vaccination, I will also wear a mask.
I have been fully vaccinated, including my booster shot. I am happy to provide proof of vaccination at our first session if requested and am happy to wear a mask when requested at any time.
If anyone has been exposed to COVID-19 within 7 days of their appointment we will reschedule the appointment to at least 10 days after the exposure with no symptoms.
If anyone tests positive for COVID-19 prior to an appointment we will reschedule for when they have tested negative for COVID-19 and have been symptom free for at least 5 days.
If anyone tests positive for COVID-19 within 10 days after a session, I ask that they let me know as soon as possible so that I can alert other clients to a possible exposure and get tested myself.
Should I test positive for COVID-19, I will contact you to alert you to a possible exposure and cancel appointments until I am symptom free and have tested negative for COVID-19 at least two times.
Should I have an exposure to COVID-19 within the 7 days prior to an appointment, with no symptoms present, I will reschedule your appointment for at least 5 days after my exposure and at least 2 negative COVID-19 test result, I will also wear a mask if it has been less than 10 days since the exposure.
Prior to and after each appointment, I follow a strict cleaning protocol to ensure that all materials are fresh and clean between use. All sheets are freshly washed, the table is sanitized between sessions, and the essential oil diffuser is cleaned between uses.
There will never be a cancellation fee for canceling an appointment due to COVID-19 concerns at any time.
While these policies are specifically created to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19, the general concepts of these policies apply to all transmittable diseases. There will never be a cancellation fee for canceling an appointment because of a public health concern at any time. If you are experiencing any symptoms of a contagious illness, please let me know so that we can work together to ensure each other's safety and get you rescheduled.
Thank you for helping me keep our community more safe and ultimately, more healthy! Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding my COVID-19 policies and procedures.
